What Is Wakeboarding — Wake Park Lagos | Learn to Wakeboard Algarve

Beginner Friendly · Lagos, Algarve

WHAT IS
WAKE
BOARDING?

You get pulled by a cable, you stand on a board, you learn to ride. Easier than you think — and more addictive than you expect.

Cable 2.0 — The Best Way To Learn
Two Towers.
Constant Pull.
No Boat.
Wakeboarding on a cable 2.0 system is the best environment to learn in. Two fixed towers pull the cable in a straight line — you get a consistent, controlled pull every single time. No waves, no boat wake, no guessing. Just you and the water.
The cable speed is set for beginners by default. As you progress, your instructor adjusts your session to challenge you at the right pace.

Your First Session
How It Works
Zero experience required. Here’s what your first day looks like — from the dock to your first successful run.
1
Get Your Gear
We fit you with a life vest, helmet, and board. Everything is included in your session price. If you want a wetsuit, we have those too — just ask at the desk. First-timers get a beginner board (wider, more stable).

2
Start in the Water
Your coach walks you through the starting position in the water. Board on your feet, handle in your hands, arms relaxed. The cable takes the tension — you just let it pull you up. Most people stand on their first or second try.

3
Ride Flat Water
Once you’re up, it’s all about balance and body position. Knees soft, weight forward, handle close to your hips. The first runs are all about staying up and getting comfortable with the pull.

4
Hit Your First Feature
When you’re comfortable on flat water, you’re ready for obstacles. The wall ride is the perfect first feature — low, forgiving, and satisfying to stomp. From there, you move on to rails, kickers, and everything else the park has to offer.

The Obstacles
Something For
Every Level
Our two lines are set up with five obstacles covering the full progression from first-timer to experienced rider.
Beginner
Wall Ride
The classic first obstacle. Approach flat, press onto the wall, ride it out. Low commitment, big confidence boost.

Beginner–Intermediate
Fun Box
A flat-top box — great for learning to press, balance on features, and start exploring slides.

Intermediate
Up-Rail
An inclined rail that tests your edge and pop. Getting up the rail clean is a real milestone.

Intermediate
Whale
A curved kicker-style obstacle. Set up right, pop off the top, and you’re flying. Satisfying at every level.

Intermediate–Advanced
Spine
A double-sided kicker. Hit it straight for air, or ride the edge for grabs and style. The park’s signature feature.

Why Cable?
Cable vs Boat
Wakeboarding
Cable Park 2.0
Consistent pull, same speed every time. Beginner-friendly. No boat wake to deal with. More riding time per hour — no waiting for the boat to turn around. Lower cost per session. Obstacles and features on every run. Best environment to learn progression tricks. That’s why we ride cable.

Boat Wakeboarding
Variable pull depending on driver and throttle. Boat wake adds challenge for beginners. Turning time cuts into ride time. Higher cost per session. Fewer features and obstacles. Better for wake tricks at higher level. Great fun — but harder to learn on.

Common Questions
FAQ
Do I need experience to ride?
Absolutely not. Most of our riders start with zero experience. The cable 2.0 system is the most beginner-friendly wakeboarding setup in the world — and our coaches know exactly how to get you up and riding in one session.

+

How old do you need to be?
We welcome riders of all ages. Kids from age 6 can join our Junior Wakeboard Academy on Sundays (and Saturdays). Adults of all ages ride. There’s no upper age limit — if you want to ride, we’ll make it work.

+

What should I wear?
Just a swimsuit or boardshorts. We provide vest, helmet, and wetsuit if needed. Leave valuables at home or in your car — you’ll be in the water. Bring sunscreen and a towel.

+

How many rides will I get in a session?
Each ride is 15 minutes. Beginners typically do 1–2 rides their first visit. More experienced riders usually string together 2–4 rides in a day. Our passes give you great value if you plan to ride regularly.

+

Do I need to book in advance?
We recommend booking online to secure your slot, especially on weekends and during peak summer months. Walk-ins are welcome when space is available — but booking guarantees your ride.

+

Can I watch if I don’t want to ride?
100%. Bring the whole family. Our terrace, sun-beds, bar, and restaurant are open to everyone — not just riders. It’s a great day out even if you stay dry the whole time.
