What Is SitWake

WAKEBOARDING FOR EVERYONE

SitWake is sit-wakeboarding — a specially adapted form of cable wakeboarding designed for people with physical disabilities. Using a custom seat system mounted to a board, riders are pulled by the cable and experience the thrill of wakeboarding on the water.

This programme exists because of Prancha da Água — our association, and the structure through which Wake Park Lagos is able to formally partner with disability associations across the region. Thanks to Prancha da Água and the equipment funding from the Câmara de Lagos, we have been running open days since 2025 — open to anyone who wants to get on the water.

We limit each session to 3–4 riders maximum. This ensures every participant gets personal coaching, enough water time, and a safe, relaxed experience.

Our Partners

BUILT ON COLLABORATION

SitWake at Wake Park Lagos exists because of the people and organisations who believe in bringing water sports to everyone. From disability associations to the local government — this is a shared project and we are proud of every partner involved.

Nuno Sobral
Primary Programme Partner

The driving force behind the SitWake programme. Works closely with us on every open day and the September camp.

Prancha da Água
Adaptive Water Sports

Dedicated to making water sports accessible. Co-organisers of our open day sessions.

Neci & Santo Amaro
Disability Support Associations

Community support organisations whose members and clients take part in every SitWake open day.

Câmara de Lagos
Official Government Sponsor

The biggest institutional support for this project. The Câmara de Lagos funded the purchase of the sit-wake seats — without their belief in this programme, the open days would not exist.

Our Mission

PIONEERS OF SITWAKE IN PORTUGAL

We didn’t start SitWake because it was easy — we started it because nobody else was doing it. Wake Park Lagos is the first and only cable park in Portugal to run an adaptive sit-wakeboarding programme. We believe water sports should be accessible to everyone, regardless of physical ability.

Grow Across Portugal

Our ambition is to bring SitWake to other cable parks across Portugal. We want to share the knowledge, the equipment setup, and the associations we’ve built so that more people can experience this.

Open to All

The open days are for anyone — you don’t need to be part of an association or have prior water sport experience. If you have a physical disability and want to try wakeboarding, come. We’ll handle the rest.

Community First

Most of the €10 session fee goes back to the associations we work with. SitWake at Wake Park Lagos is not a commercial product — it’s a community project, and we’re proud of it.

Supported by Lagos

The Câmara de Lagos believed in this project enough to fund the purchase of the sit-wake seats. That support made the open days possible and we’re grateful for it.
